Land Acknowledgement
Cultivate Community + Festival is situated on the lands where Michi Saagig (Mississauga) Anishnaabeg have been tending their relationships to food, art, culture, family, and community, since time immemorial. The Michi Saagig are known as “the people of the big river mouths” and “the Salmon people,” because of the depth of their relationship with the tributaries along the north shore of what is currently known as Lake Ontario -- including the Ganaraska River. These lands are subject to the Williams Treaty, and all of us, whether settler, visitors, or Michi Saagig people, we are all treaty people.
