ORIGINS
Cultivate Community is a registered charitable organization based in Port Hope, Ontario, dedicated to creating meaningful opportunities for people to connect through music, arts, culture, and shared experiences.
What began as a small grassroots music festival has grown into a year-round charitable organization presenting festivals, concerts, workshops, community events, and arts experiences that welcome thousands of participants each year. Along the way, Cultivate has become more than a festival. It has become a gathering place. A space where neighbours meet, friendships are formed, creativity is celebrated, and community is strengthened.
At its core, Cultivate believes that the arts should be accessible to everyone. We know that music, creativity, and shared experiences have the power to bring people together across generations, backgrounds, and circumstances. Through our events and programs, we work to remove barriers to participation and create welcoming spaces where everyone belongs.
MISSION AND HISTORY
Mission
To present arts festivals and events that cultivate connection, creativity, and community for all ages.
Vision
A creative force and leader of a vibrant local arts community built on Access, Belonging, and Connection. The ABCs of Cultivate.
Our Mandate
Access
We advance arts education and public appreciation of the arts by presenting festivals and events that everyone can participate in, regardless of age, background, or financial means.
Belonging
We create welcoming spaces that reflect the diversity of our community, offering representation, opportunities for participation, and meaningful civic engagement through the arts.
Connection
We use music and the arts as powerful catalysts for shared experiences, cultural understanding, and community building, strengthening the bonds that bring people together.
FUTURE
Today, Cultivate Community presents three signature programs: Cultivate Festival, Road to Cultivate, and Hibernate Festival. Together, these initiatives provide year-round opportunities for people to experience live music, participate in creative activities, volunteer, learn, connect, and celebrate community.
As we look to the future, our commitment remains simple: to open the doors wider, remove barriers, and ensure that everyone has the opportunity to experience the transformative power of arts and culture.
